Privacy notice

Cheli Travels is a personal website run by me, Realeboga Saurombe, in Johannesburg, South Africa. Under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) I am the responsible party, and my own information officer. You can reach me at realebogasaurombe@gmail.com.

This site has no accounts, forms, comments or newsletter. There is nothing to sign up for.

• If you email me, I get your email address and whatever you write. I use it to reply and nothing else.
• If you press Accept on the cookie notice, Google Analytics records which pages are viewed, roughly where in the world (country and city, worked out from your IP address, which Google does not store in Google Analytics 4), your device and browser type, and where you came from.
• Your choices (cookie answer, sound and motion switches) are saved in your own browser. They never leave your device.

Analytics help me see which films and places people care about, so I can make more of them. I only run them with your consent (POPIA section 11(1)(a)). If you say no, or ignore the notice, nothing is measured and the site works exactly the same.

I have switched off Google's advertising features: no Google signals, no ad personalisation, no remarketing. This site shows no ads and I do not sell or rent data.

• Google (Analytics), only after you accept. Google may process data outside South Africa, including in the United States, under its own data protection terms.
• Vercel hosts the pages and Cloudflare delivers the videos and photos. To serve you they necessarily see technical details such as your IP address and browser, whether or not you accept analytics. They act as service providers.
• Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Airbnb and the booking sites I link to have their own privacy policies. Once you follow a link you are on their service, not mine.

Only if you accept, Google Analytics sets two first-party cookies on this site: _ga and _ga_ followed by an id. They last up to two years and hold a random identifier, not your name. I keep analytics data for no longer than 14 months. Emails are kept only as long as the conversation needs.

To change your mind, use Cookies in the footer (or the menu on a phone). Choosing Decline there stops measurement and deletes those cookies from this site.

If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, I treat it as Decline and don't ask.

You can ask me what I hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop using it, and you can withdraw consent at any time. Email realebogasaurombe@gmail.com and I will answer within 30 days.

If you are unhappy with how I handled something, you can complain to South Africa's Information Regulator at inforegulator.org.za.

Every page is served over HTTPS with strict security headers, and the site only links out to addresses I have checked. No system is perfect: if a breach ever affected your information I would tell you and the Information Regulator, as the law requires.

This site is not aimed at children. POPIA treats anyone under 18 as a child, so if you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before accepting analytics.

If I change what the site collects I will update this page and its date. The date at the top is the last time it changed.
